Indian woman found dead at her Los Angeles residence
Hyderabad, Nov 22 (PTI) In yet another incident of murder
of an Indian in United States, a 24-year-old woman was found
dead under mysterious circumstances at her house near Los
Angeles.
A pall of gloom descended on Goli Sushma's parents house
in Himayatnagar area here after her family received the news
Friday. The family allege that her husband Suresh Babu, a
software engineer, could be involved in the murder.
"We got a call yesterday from one of our relatives that
my daughter was found dead in her house. We have been trying
to contact my son-in-law but in vain. We suspect foul play,"
Sushma's father V Kanakarajam, a retired assistant director of
the state electricity department, said here.
Sushma was found dead in the store-room of her house at
Northridge city near Los Angeles.
Kanakarajam told reporters that Sushma had called up her
mother Bhagyalakshmi a couple of days ago but there was no
mention of any problem.
Sushma, who did engineering degree from a city college,
had married Suresh, who hails from Karimnagar district, in
April last year and moved to US in August.
At present she was not working anywhere.
According to Harika, one of their relatives living in Los
Angeles, Suresh had called her up and asked her to visit his
house saying he had some problem at home.
But, when she reached there she was informed about
Sushma's death and that her body had been shifted to a
hospital for autopsy.
"We are totally in the dark. We don't know what happened
there," said Sushma's younger brother Vamshi who was to leave
for the US in a couple of days to pursue his master's degree.
The family is refusing to believe reports in a section of
media that Sushma had committed suicide.
"It is impossible. She had no reasons to end her life.
She was a strong willed person," said her uncle Laxmirajam.
Sushma's death is the latest in a series of mysterious
deaths of people from the southern Indian state of Andhra
Pradesh living in the US.
Arpana Jinaga, a 24-year-old software engineer, was found
murdered early this month in her apartment in Redmond, a
suburb of Seattle.
A 37-year-old housewife Jayalakshmi and her two children
were found dead on October 27 in their apartment in Novi
township near Detroit.
Her unemployed computer programmer husband Lakshminivasa
Rao Nerusu, belonging to Krishna district, has been charged
with the murders.
T Soumya Reddy, a postgraduate student, and her cousin
Vikram Reddy, a software engineer, were found dead with bullet
wounds near a lake Chicago in September this year.
Srinivas, a postgraduate medical student from Karimnagar,
was found murdered in Pennsylvania in March.
A Kirankumar and K Chandrasekhar Reddy, both PhD
students, were shot dead in their apartment at Louisiana
University in December last year.
