Director of The National Oil Company: Iraq Is Seeking To Invest In Global Refineries

BAGHDAD / NINA / The head of the General Company for Iraqi Oil Marketing/ SOMO, / Falah al-Amiri said that "Iraq is seeking, through the oil ministry, to enter into a partnership and investment by certain rates with countries and international companies in the field of oil refineries." He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that " Iraq's foreign policy in the field of energy summed up in increase production to significant levels with an effective export after achieving self-sufficiency through the construction of new refineries and rehabilitation of existing ones ." Al-Ameri added that " the ministry embarked on the preparation to participate in global refineries for reasons of increasing the diversification of sources of Iraqi export and increase revenue by increasing the amount of oil refined that all intended to raise the status of Iraq's oil in the global market ." He concluded that "The investment in the global market, through establishing or contributing in refineries, is a policy followed by many countries, especially Saudi Arabia, which has in many countries, like the United States and Europe, refineries and petrol stations as well as Kuwait, which has many of the stations in the UK and elsewhere."
