PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO ADDRESSES APEC CEO SUMMIT FRIDAY

Lima, Nov 21 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono delivered a speech at the second-day APEC CEO forum of business top executives and academicians of the Asia Pacific region at the Defence Ministry building in Lima Friday.

The President in his speech touched on Economic Growth and Poverty: Challenge to Developing Countries.

The APEC CEO forum was opened at 9 a.m by Peruvian President Alan Garcia Perez and the president of the APEC CEO meeting Jose Miguel Morales.

At 9.45 a.m local time Singaporean Foreign Minister George Yeo addressed the meeting touching on the implications of the financial crisis on the global economy. Later Indonesian's Minister of Trade Mari Pangestu chaired a session on contribution of APEC to the development of free trade.

The APEC CEO was held to give the opportunity to businesspeople from the Asia Pacific region to watch the presentation of business leaders, academicians and world leaders.

One-time Peruvian Prime Minister Pedro pablo Kuczynski made a presentation on Peru as a gateway to Latin America, then at 2.30 p.m the conference was presided over by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. The address of President Yudhoyono was at 8 pm followed by an address by Chilean President Michelle Bachelet touching on the challenges of globalization.
Earlier, President Yudhoyono had a bilateral meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key at Melia Hotel in Lima.
