GOVT TAKES OVER CONTROL OF BANK, FIRST SINCE '98 CRISIS
The government has taken control of troubled Bank Century, the first such move since the 1997-1998 crisis, to save it from collapse and restore confidence in the banking sector troubled rumors that several small banks are short of liquidity.

Following a series of meetings since Thursday (Nov. 20) until Friday, the government and Bank Indonesia (BI) through Financial System Stability Committee have decided to deliver the management of Bank Century to the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) by temporary capital participation.
