GARUDA, AAPA HOLD FLIGHT SAFETY SEMINAR
Jakarta, Nov 21 (ANTARA) - Garuda Indonesia Airlines and the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) held a seminar on flight security and safety in the resort island of Bali on November 20 and 21.
The two-day event was part of Garuda's efforts to support the improvement of the aviation industry's flight safety and flight safety experts' capability, the head of the airline company's communications service, Pujobroto, said in a press statement on Friday.
The seminar which was part of AAPA's annual programs brought together nearly 150 participants from airline companies and relevant industries in Asia and the Pacific, he said.
AAPA is the association of 17 scheduled international airlines including Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, Dragonair, EVA Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Malaysia Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Qantas Airways, Royal Brunei Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Vietnam Airlines.
Garuda Indonesia President Director Emirsyah Satar said as a national flag carrier, Garuda felt called upon to help the government develop and improve flight safety in Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia is the only airline company in Indonesia which has received an IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate.
