Government discusses foreign-funded projects

SANA'A, Nov. 20 (Saba)-The government discussed in an exceptional meeting held on Thursday to its cabinet report on level of achievements in projects financed by foreign loans and assistances.

The report, which was presented by Ministry of Planning and International
Cooperation, showed that total withdrawal of 2007 loans and assistances has reached
$ 480, 2 million comparing to $ 424, 2 million in 2006 while the total withdrawal of
from these loans and assistances for the first half of 2008 has reached $ 190, 4
million in different foreign financing.

The report indicated that social security and alleviating poverty projects represent
the highest percent of making use of these loans and assistances, 60 percent
followed by projects in sectors waters and sanitations, electricity, financial and
administrative reform, public health and population, construction, transportation,
communications, education, scientific research and fisheries.



The report included halted projects in these sectors and took a number of decisions
aiming at enhancing capability and carrying out foreign-funded projects. The cabinet
directed concerned ministries and bodies to carry out these projects in standard
time.
