OVER 80 BIZMEN TO ACCOMPANY BELGIAN PRINCE PHILIPPE

Jakarta, Nov 21 (ANTARA) - A total of 81 Belgian businessmen will accompany Belgian Prince Philippe during his Indonesian visit on November 21-29, 2008, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said.

The foreign ministry spokesman said here on Friday the Belgium prince would be visiting Indonesia to explore business and investment opportunities in the country.

The Belgian entourage will be composed of business players in the industrial , trade, financial services, banking, retail business, consultancy and creative industry sectors, he said.

Faizasyah said they were successful businessmen in their country and planning to open or expand businesses in Indonesia.

He said that the fields of business they were going to explore in Indonesia included agriculture, plantation, furniture, textile, food processing, construction, machineries, energy, medication, satellites, infrastructure, defense products, shipping, research, technology and ornament industry.

The Belgian business delegation will be led by Belgian Prince Philippe.

Belgium is one of Indonesia's important trade partners. Up to July 2008, their two-way trade was recorded at US$1.20 billion, with Indonesia's exports to Belgium worth US$828 million and imports from Belgium valued at US$375.5 million.

Belgium is Indonesia's sixth biggest export destination country. Indonesia's exports to Belgium include machinery tools, timber products, furniture, footwear, garments, textiles and textile products, fishery products and tobacco.

Belgium is the 30th biggest investor country in Indonesia. Since 1967, and until 2007, approved Belgian investment in Indonesia totaled US$451.2 million in 89 projects.
