PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO ARRIVES IN PERU
Lima, Nov 21 (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his entourage arrived at the Peruvian Air Force Base, Callao, in Lima at 7:25 on Thursday evening to attend the 16th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
At the Callao airport, President Yudhoyono was greeted by Indonesian ambassador to Peru, I Gde Djelantik, before heading for Melia Hotel in the Peruvian capital city of Lima.
On Friday, November 21, 2008, President Yudhoyono would attend the 16th APEC summit to discuss a new commitment for the Asia-Pacific development at the National Museum in Lima.
Yudhoyono is scheduled to be a keynote speaker at the APEC Chief Executive Officers (CEO) Summit. On the occasion the Indonesian president would speak on APEC economic development challenges of poverty eradication.
While in Peru, President Yudhoyono would also hold a series of bilateral meetings with a number of state leaders such as Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Peruvian President Alan Garcia, and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez.
The Indonesian head of state arrive here from Brazil after having been in the country for three days from Tuesday to Thursday to have a bilateral meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Yudhoyono had also the occasion to meet with the leaders of the country's Senate and House of Representatives, to visit Rio de Janeiro to inspect ethanol industry, and to attend a cultural meeting to mark the 55-year relations between Indonesia and Brazil at Monte Libano Clube in Ipanema.
Before leaving Brazil for Peru to attend the APEC summit, President Yudhoyono held a meeting with Brazilian businessmen at JW Marriott Hotel in Capacabana.
