PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO LEAVES BRAZIL FOR PERU
Rio de Janeiro, Nov 21 (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono left the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro on Thursday afternoon for Peruvian capital of Lima to attend the 16th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit from November 21-24, 2008.
President Yudhoyono and his entourage left Galeao Antonio Carlos Jobim airport in Rio at 4 p.m. and to arrive in Lima at 6:25 p.m. local time.
The Indonesian head of state was in Brazil for three days from Tuesday to Thursday to have a bilateral meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, to meet with the leaders of the country's Senate and House of Representatives, to visit Rio de Janeiro to inspect ethanol industry, and to attend a cultural meeting to mark 55-year relations between Indonesia and Brazil at Monte Libano Clube in Ipanema.
Before leaving Brazil for Peru to attend APEC summit, President Yudhoyono held a meeting with Brazilian businessmen at JW Marriott Hotel in Capacabana.
Yudhoyono is to attend APEC meeting on Friday to discuss a new commitment for Asia-Pacific development, and to be a keynote speaker at the APEC Chief Executive Officers (CEO) Summit.
While in Peru, President Yudhoyono is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meeting with a number of state leaders such as Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Peruvian President Alan Garcia, and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez.
