Griffiths signs with Gold Coast United

Socceroo defender Adam Griffiths has agreed to a three-year deal with A-League
expansion club Gold Coast United.
Griffiths, who currently plays with premiers Newcastle Jets, joins star recruits New
Zealand international striker Shane Smeltz and goalkeeper Jess Vanstrattan at the
new club.
Gold Coast United chief executive Clive Mensink said Griffith's pedigree and ability
to play in a number of positions made him stand out on the club's list of transfer
targets.
"We are very much looking forward to welcoming Adam to Gold Coast United next
season," Mensink said on Thursday.
"He's versatile, experienced and a good leader. He will be a top player for us and
his skills and talents will be appreciated at our club."
Mensink said further announcements on player signings will be made when head coach
Miron Bleiberg returns from a scouting mission in Brazil.
