MINISTRY ORGANIZES INDONESIAN AQUACULTURE 2008
Jakarta, Nov 19 (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Maritime and Fishery Affairs was scheduled to hold an Indonesian Aquaculture 2008 from November 18 to 20, 2008, in Yogyakarta, involving researchers, engineers, and businessmen to improve the performance of fisheries, an official said.
Chairman of the ministry's Centre for Statistics and Information, Soen'an H Poernomo, said here in a press statement Wednesday that the event would have three parallel activities namely a seminar, exhibition, and business meeting.
Soen'an explained that seminar will have 600 participants, including researchers, engineers, lecturers, college students, and businessmen mainly engaged in fishery sector. The seminar itself, he said, would have 167 papers featuring oral and paper posters.
Several sessions to be presented in the activity were about fish, shrimps, shell, seaweed, fish feed, fish health and environment.
The event would also include an evaluation session of the technical unit of the Directorate General of Fish Breeding, and a group meeting of farmers and fishermen.
As to the exhibition, Soen'an said, there would be 55 participants including government officials of Yogyakarta, representatives from the technical unit of the Directorate General of Fish Breeding, research centres, Pandu Karawang fishpond, private companies, and two national print media.
The Indonesian Aquaculture 2008 activity had been approved by Minister of Maritime and Fishery Affairs, Freddy Numberi, on Monday (Nov 17) in Yogyakarta.
