Yemen, France sign electric treaty worth € 26 million
SANA'A, Nov. 19 (Saba)- Yemen and French Agency For Development signed on Wednesday agreement for supplying the project of SCADA system for the national control of electricity power with the cost of € 26 million.
According the agreement signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation
Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and Director of French Development Agency in Sana'a Christian
Flament, the agency would provide Yemen $ 36 million for constructing new national
control of electricity and qualifying the previous national center.
The agency would also construct four new control centers for observing distribution
networks would be construct in governorates of Sana'a, Aden, Hudeidah, Taiz and
Hadramout, in addition to setting up new sets and carrying out new regulating
measures and ways to the control system of the network in standard time. The treaty
includes also importing equipments of telecommunication and setting up and operating
control centers across the country.
Al-Arhabi highlighted keenness of the French agency on enhancing and boosting the
government's efforts aiming at reforming electricity sector and improving the
Electricity General Corporation.
