Yemen, France discuss support of decentralization in Yemen

SANA'A, Nov. 19 (Saba)- Talks were held on Wednesday between ministry of local administration represented by deputy minister Amr al-Akbari and French delegation of Puy-de-Dôme province headed by deputy chairman of the province Pertiat.

The talks focused on means of enhancing current cooperation between the ministry and
the state in field of supporting decentralization in Yemen and possibilities of
extending project of the environment resources management in Socatra Island.

The project was started in 2006 and will be ended by coming December within the
cooperation agreement signed between the Puy-de-Dôme province and the Socatra Local
Society.

In the talks, al-Akbari reviewed steps have been taken in domain of
decentralization, pointing out to the tend to shaft into local ruling.A ministerial
technical team is working now to prepare national program to carry out this tend
which will be done within few coming months, he said.

Al-Akbari highlighted deep routed Yemeni-French relations between, appreciating
French support for bring the decentralization in Yemen into success.

For her part, the head of the French delegation praised achievements in project of
the cooperation between the province and Socatra Island, talking about results of
the visit's delegation to the island.



She said that the delegation would do best to convince officials of the province to
extend the project for more years.

She also added the visit of the delegation confirms Yemeni-French partnership in
field of decentralization.
