RI, BRAZIL AGREE TO ESTABLISH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP COOPERATION

Brasilia, Nov 19 (ANTARA) - The governments of Indonesia and Brazil have agreed to establish a strategic partnership cooperation in order to increase bilateral relations.

The partnership agreement is contained in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two governments and was signed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda and his Brazilian counterpart Foreign Minister Celso Amorin at the Palacio do Planalto presidential Office here on Wednesday.
The MoU was signed after President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva had a bilateral meeting in the presidential office.
On the occasion, Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Anton Apriyantono and His Brazilian counterpart Meksiko Reinolds Stephanes also signed an MoU on cooperation in the agricultural field.
In the meantime Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro and his Brazilian counterpart Meksiko Edson Lubao signed an MoU on cooperation in the energy sector.
Wirajuda and Amorin also signed an MoU on poverty reduction.
President Yudhoyono in his address during an official luncheon held in honor of the Indonesian guests, expressed his hope that the cooperation would further strengthen the relations between the two countries which were established 55 years ago.
"Now is the time for Indonesia and Brazil to develop new frame and dimension in their relationship," the president said.
