Yemen, UNDP discuss civil defense cooperation

DHAMAR, Nov. 18 (Saba)- Deputy governor of Dhamar Abdullah al-Misery
discussed on Tuesday with delegation of the United Nation
Development Program or UNDP cooperation in field of civil defense.

The meeting dealt with the governorates' needs of technical support
and training cadres for facing natural catastrophes and building
data base for possible dangers..
Al-Misery affirmed necessity of integrated efforts between
different partners for spreading social awareness on importance of
state of alert for facing catastrophes and overcoming their results.

For his part, the head of the UNDP's delegation indicated that the
program works on providing support to efforts of the government for
facing natural catastrophes via establishing suitable institutions
for planning disasters, noting that the program also helps Yemen on
preparing national plan for managing catastrophes and establishing
system for managing communication in catastrophes.

On the other hand the delegation visited the earthquake center and
inspected its activities and role in observing earthquake activities
and inspected also activities of civil defense authority in the
governorate and listened to explanation on observing possible
natural phenomena.
