Vietnam, Japan held 5th diplomatic-defence dialogue

Tokyo (VNA) - The fifth Vietnam-Japan departmental-level diplomatic and
defence discussions took place in Tokyo on Nov. 17-18 following
agreements between the foreign and national defence ministries of the two
countries.

In an atmosphere of friendship, mutual trust and understanding, the two
sides introduced each other to their respective diplomatic, security and
defence policies.

The two sides expressed their pleasure at the development of Vietnam-Japan
relations in the political, economic, cultural, educational and security and
defence sectors during the past.

They agreed that the dialogue achieved positive results, contributing to
boosting the mutual understanding and strengthening the friendship and
cooperation between the two countries in the spirit of strategic
partnership.

They also exchanged views on recent changes that have taken place both
globally and in the Asia-Pacific region.

The two sides agreed on the sixth dialogue being held in Hanoi in
2009.

The Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Yabunaka Mitoji met with the
Vietnamese diplomatic-defence delegation on Nov. 17.-Enditem
