Iranian, Turkish news agencies sign cooperation agreement
Tehran, Nov 18, IRNA - The Islamic Republic New Agency (IRNA) and Turkish news agency 'Ilhas' signed an agreement on professional cooperation here Monday.
Managing Director of IRNA Mohammad Jafar Behdad said while signing the
deal that it was inked in line with the concerns and goals of the two
Muslim countries.
"At a time when Islamic world, Muslims as well as their beliefs are
subject to political and media invasion by bullying powers, media in
Muslim countries should take initiatives to promote their
capabilities, he noted.
Based on the agreement, which contains 14 paragraphs as well as a
note, the two sides will exchange news, photos and films. They will
also support each others' offices in their countries and hold
short-term educational courses, he said.
Fevzi Kahraman, for his part, said that Iran and Turkey are two
important regional countries and religious, cultural and social
commonalities as well as political and trade ties constitute the
backbone of unity between the news agencies.
He further added that the agreement was signed with an aim of
illuminating the two countries' public opinion, world and region by
disseminating news in a correct manner.
Referring to significant developments in the region and the status of
Iran and Turkey in the region, he also said that amid this situation,
the two news agencies shoulder great responsibilities.
