Iran determined to strengthen, expand ties with African countries - Mottaki

Tehran, Nov 18, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Monday in a meeting with Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Democratic Republic of Congo, Baboana Ensenfo, Iran is resolutely determined to strengthen and expand bilateral parliamentary, political and economic ties and comprehensive ties with entire African countries.

According to IRNA Political Desk, the Information and Media Office of
the Islamic Republic of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted
Mottaki as reiterating, "In order to accelerate the trend of bilateral
cooperation with Congo the first step can be increasing the volume of
annual trade between the two countries."
He referred to exporting Iran's industrial products to Congo, the
Iranian private firms' partnership at Congo's development plans,
particularly in sanitary, generation of electricity, agriculture, dam
construction, automobile industry, energy and oil discovery and
drilling fields, as most important areas for boosting bilateral
cooperation."
Mottaki meanwhile proposed exchanging teams of experts in various
fields and signing letters of cooperation along with offering banking
and insurance facilities to the two countries' private sector firms in
order to provide for mutual growth and better understanding of the
other side's potentials and capabilities.

Our country's foreign minister then listened to a report by minister
Ensenfo on current economic status of the Democratic Republic f Congo,
after which he said, "National unity can thwart all plots and
expansionist policies of the enemies of any country." The DRC
official, too, referring to his meetings with Iranian officials and
his visits of the industrial centers of Iran, said, "We have gained a
new image of your country as a strong regional power and an industrial
pole, getting quite convinced that there are lots of fields for
bilateral cooperation."
Ensenfo added, "The Congo officials are determined to expand
comprehensive ties with Iran and we favor the presence of the Iranian
industrial and engineering firms in our country."
The DRC Parliamentary Affairs Minister meanwhile expressed hope that
after the upcoming establishment of a joint economic commission the
proper ground would be provided for defining and implementation of
joint industrial projects.
