PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO LEAVES MEXICO FOR BRAZIL

Mexico City, Nov 17 (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono left Mexico City on Monday afternoon for Brazil on the third leg of his 13-day tour of four American countries.

President Yudhoyono arrived in Mexico on Sunday afternoon for a one-day state visit during which he held bilateral talks with his Mexican counterpart, Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, at Palacio Nacional.

In the bilateral meeting where the two countries reached cooperation agreements in various sectors, President Yudhoyono was accompanied among others by Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Agriculture Minister Anton Apriyantono, and Minister/State Secretary Hatta Radjasa.

On the occasion, four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries covering cooperation in education and diplomatic training, energy cooperation between Indonesian state oil and gas company PT Pertamina and its Mexican partner, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), and a collaboration deal between Promexico, a Mexican export promotion agency, and Indonesia's Agency for Export Development (Nafed) were signed before the two presidents.

While in Brazil, President Yudhoyono would pay a courtesy call on and hold a bilateral meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, meet with the leaders of the country's Senate and House of Representatives, visit Rio de Janeiro to inspect ethanol industry, and attend a cultural meeting to mark 55-year relations between Indonesia and Brazil at Monte Libano Clube in Ipanema.

Before leaving Brazil for Peru to attend the 16th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit from November 20-24, President Yudhoyono would hold a meeting with Brazilian businessmen at JW Marriott Hotel in Capacabana.
