THREE PROTEST RALLIES TO HAPPEN IN JAKARTA

Jakarta, Nov 18 (ANTARA) - Three protest rallies are expected to take place at different locations in Jakarta on Tuesday with the potential of causing traffic jams on a number of main roads in the capital city.

According to the Jakarta Police's Traffic Management Center (TMC), the first rally would be staged at Hotel Indonesia traffic circle in Central Jakarta at 9 on Tuesday morning and was expected to cause a traffic jam along Thamrin street.

An hour later, the second group of protesters would stage a similar rally in front of the Supreme Court (MA) office on Merdeka Utara street in Central Jakarta.

Later at 1 in the afternoon, the third rally would be staged by the third group of protesters in front of the Merdeka Palace also on Merdeka Utara street.

However, the TMC did not mention the name of the three groups of protesters and the number of people who would take part in the rallies from 9 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon.

The TMC said that last Wednesday, three protest rallies were also staged in several locations in Jakarta, causing traffic jams on a number of main roads.

The first of last Wednesday's rallies was staged at 9 a.m. in front of the Office of State Enterprises Minister on Merdeka Selatan street in Central Jakarta, and then went ahead with the similar activity in front of Forestry Ministry building on Gatot Subroto street in South Jakarta.

After that, the second group of protesters staged a rally in front of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) office on Rasuna Said street, also in South Jakarta, and then proceeded to the legislative building on Gatot Subroto street.

The third rally by the third group of protesters happened at two different locations, namely in front of Central Jakarta District Court on Gajah Mada street, and in front of Merdeka Palace on Merdeka Utara street in Central Jakarta.
