Prince Salman opens GCC Youth Leadership Forum


Riyadh, November 17, SPA -- Governor of Riyadh region Prince Salman
bin Abdulaziz, who is also the Honorary President of Riyadh Schools,
patronized here on Sunday evening the inaugural ceremony of GCC (Gulf
Cooperation Council) Youth Leadership Forum.


The five-day forum was organized by Prince Salman Center for
Building Leaders at Riyadh Schools with the participation of the
ministries of education, and culture and information, as well as the
Arab Bureau for Education in the Gulf States (ABEGS); King Abdulaziz
Center for National Dialogue; King Abdulaziz and his Companions
Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, and the General Presidency
for Youth Welfare.


Prince Salman also opened an exhibition organized on the fringes of
the forum.


Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of Riyadh Schools said
"the organization of the Forum aims at enabling the youth to acquire
experience in the field of leadership."


On his part, Dr Ali Al-Karni, the Director General of ABEGS, said
ABEGS is keen on implanting the spirit of cooperation in the hearts
of the youth.


In his address on the occasion, Prince Salman thanked Riyadh Schools
for enabling the youth to get acquainted with the history of the
Arabian Peninsula.


He noted that Islam has unified the Arabs who were fighting each
other before Islam.


Prince Salman said "the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia feels honored
because it is the country where the Two Holy Mosques are located, and
because it is the cradle of Islam.


He urged the youth to adhere to the teachings of Islam, and to try
to get acquainted with their history.


The ceremony was attended by Prince Fahd bin Abdullah bin Mohammed
bin Abdul-Rahman, a number of other princes and officials.
