Iranian MPs urge Muslim states to stop Gaza tragedy
Tehran, Nov 17, IRNA Representatives of Iran's Majlis urged Muslim states to stop the
humanitarian crisis in Gaza Strip by taking a joint action.
"The worsening tragic situation in Gaza is alarming," said the
statement which was signed by 217 members of the 290-seat Iranian
parliament.
Israel escalated incursions into Gaza Strip in the past two weeks
violating a truce that was in force since mid-June.
Scores of defenseless Palestinians have been killed in Israeli
targeted air strikes since November 4, and it closed Gaza's crossings
to food and fuel supplies to be distributed by the United Nations to
750,000 needy Palestinians and fuel for Gaza's sole power plant.
Both the United Nations and the European Union have urged Israel to
end the escalation and let the relief supplies through.
"In addition to the savage massacre of people in Gaza, lack of life
necessities such as fresh water, electricity and hygiene facilities,
have put the defenseless people specially women, children and the aged
citizens in dangerous situation," the Iranian MPs said.
Noting that the present situation in Gaza has challenged all human
rights advocates, the statement regretted that none of the hegemonic
powers and states apparently pay any attention to the call of the
innocent people of Gaza for help.
Therefore, the Iranian MPs called on all Muslim states to take a joint
action using all their potentials to help the call of the innocent
Gazans to be heard and find a way out of the present crisis in Gaza
Strip.
