Yemeni-Saudi following-up ministerial committee ends meetings

SANA'A, Nov. 16 (Saba) - The Yemeni-Saudi Following-up Ministerial
Committee emerged from the Yemeni-Saudi Coordination Council
concluded late on Saturday its meetings.

The two sides signed the final minute that included concurrence on
all issues related to and extending the existing cooperation fields
between Yemen and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The two sides voiced their satisfaction of the security cooperation
between the related bodies in the two countries in fields of borders
committees, combating drugs trafficking and security training. They
also called on reinforcing the current cooperation between the
foreign ministries of both countries.

The committee reviewed the implementation progress of the
development projects funded by the Saudi Fund for Development in
various field, urging the concerned bodies in both countries to
speed up the procedures to finalize the project of double road of
Amran-Sana'a- Aden and the fifth Electricity project.

Regarding the commercial and industrial fields, the committee
welcomed of opening a Saudi commercial department in the Saudi
embassy in Yemen, asserting the importance of continuing the efforts
to increase the commercial exchange volume and hold the introduction
commercial exhibitions for Yemeni products in Saudi Arabia as well
as activating the role of the Joint Businessmen Council.

The two sides agreed on coordinating attitudes in the international
events in issue of joining Yemen to the World Trade Organization
(WTO).

They also praised the ongoing cooperation between the ministries of
agriculture and fisheries in both countries. Yemen demanded the
Saudi side to support the decision of the Arab League related to
establishing the Arab Ministerial Council for the Fishery Wealth in
Yemen.

Concerning education, higher education and technical and vocational
education, the Yemeni and Saudi sides agreed on the necessity of
finalizing the requisite procedures to sign the memorandum of
understanding between Taiz University and King Saud University.

The committee also accentuated the importance of the completing the
study of twinning a number of Society College in Yemen and Technique
Colleges in Saudi Arabia to be signed during the coming 19th round
of the Yemeni-Saudi Coordination Council.

The minute was signed by Deputy Premier for Economic Affairs,
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim
al-Arhabi and Saudi Trade and Industry Minister Abdullah Redha.
