Seminar discusses RoK-Vietnam multi-cultural families

Hanoi (VNA) - Multi-cultural families as a result of mixed marriage
between Koreans and Vietnamese was the theme of a recent seminar held by the
RoK-Vietnam Academic Association (RVAA) in Seoul .

The RVAA president, Jeon Hye Kyung, said the multi-racial and
multi-cultural trend is growing in the Republic of Korea along with
the expansion of globalization, hence the need for a new view of how to live
together in a multi-cultural community. She said the seminar would consider
mixed marriages between Koreans and Vietnamese to arrive at a broader
picture of the present RoK society.

Vietnamese ambassador to RoK TranVan Hieu praised the seminar as a
practical activity to help Vietnamese brides who numbers over 25,000 in the
RoK.

Local researchers discussed Vietnamese women's status in their home
country and in RoK-Vietnam multi-cultural families, legal procedures for
their settlement and issues arising from RoK-Vietnam marriages.-Enditem
