RI CONFERS MEDAL OF MERIT ON FORMER SAUDI ARABIAN AMBASSADOR

Jakarta, Nov 16 (ANTARA) - The government of Indonesia conferred a service medal on former Saudi Arabian Amabssador to Indonesia Abdullah Abdulrahman Alim.

Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Salim Segaf Al-Jufrie in Riyadh on Sunday pinned the medal on Abdullah Abdulrahman Ali who had been ambassador to Indonesia from 1993 to 2005.
The meritorious medal was awarded to him as an appreciation of his merits and services to the Indonesian nation and state especially in improving and strengthening the bilateral cooperation with Indonesia.
Held at the Indonesian embassy in Riyadh, the ceremony was attended by a number of Saudi Arabian foreign ministry officials, ambassadors of ASEAN member countries and the Indonesian embassy officials.
Salim Segaf Al-Jufri on behalf of the Indonesian government extended his deep appreciation to Abdullah for his services to the Indonesian nation and state.
It was also reported that when Abdullah was ambassador in Indonesia, he often showed a strong understanding, support and gave assistance to Indonesia during a crisis.
In return, Abdullah also expressed his thanks to the government of Indonesia for the medal of merit, and said that special relations between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia had been running for a long period.
The relations were seen as a strong foundation in the history of the two countries which had similar visions and interest in building close friendship.
He further said that success in diplomatic relations was however inseparable from the good directives of the two countries' leaders.
