THE ART OF PAINTING DEVELOPS SOUNDLY
Denpasar, Nov 14 (ANTARA) - True artists are expected to support and improve sound, firm and consistent painters by creating ideas for good quality artworks.
"A true artist's work would be a surprise for art lovers and devotees with their surprise paintings," the pioneer and director of Neka Museum in the Ubud artist village, Pande Wayan Suteja, said here Sunday.
He said that true and dedicated artists were oriented to artistic pleasure and satisfaction, and they tended to be egocentric.
"They would explore various tastes and richness of art disregarding the market values and tastes," Suteja Neka said.
If a work of art is highly appreciated, a high value will come by itself.
On the contrary, a painter is not a true and dedicated artist, if oriented to market demands and tstes, or any other influencing factors.
Suteja said that an artist is formed and developed in an academic and non academic way.
Therefore, formal education institutions play an decisive role in creating true artists.
"A painting of an academic artist is not completely the work of true artist, because many of the paintings are market oriented," hee said.
This is shown in lack of identity of their paintings, trailing after the best selling paintings in the market.
Meanwhile the non-academic way can be done apprenticeship, although in the beginning they tend to be trailing behind their master in their place of training.
