NORTHERN CYPRUS HOSTS TKA`s WORKING MEETING
Baku, 15 November,(AzerTAj)A working meeting of the Turkic-speaking News Agencies (TKA) was held in Lefkosha, Northern Cyprus on November 14. The purpose of the event was to strengthen cooperation between news agencies of Turkic countries.
Prior to the meeting, the visitors viewed the office building of the Northern Cyprus
News Agency (TAK).
The event was opened by TAK Director General Emir Ersoy who welcomed the
participants and thanked them for attending the meeting.
Other speakers, including Anadolu Agency`s Director General Hilmi Bengi,
representatives of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AzerTAc), Kyrgyz National News
Agency - Kabar and Crimean News Agency (QHA) stressed TKA`s role in expanding
cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries and their news agencies.
The meeting ended with the signing of a final declaration aiming to increase
cooperation among the member news agencies.
According to the document, the host of TKA`s 8th meeting to be held in 2009 will be
defined after negotiations with AzerTAc, current chair of the organization.
The meeting participants were also received by President of Northern Cyprus Mehmet
Ali Talat and Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer.
