BELARUS PRESIDENT RECEIVES AZERBAIJAN`S DEFENSE MINISTER

Baku, 14 November,(AzerTAj)“Belarus and Azerbaijan cooperate in all areas, including
defense ones”, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the meeting with
Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister Safar Abiyev in Minsk, on November 14.
On trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, President of Belarus
pointed out to the dynamic development of the mutual trade. In 2007, commodity
turnover between Belarus and Azerbaijan tripled compared with 2006 and increased by
45 per cent to US $ 79 mln in 2008 against 2007.
Mr. Lukashenko thanked Azerbaijan for support Belarus in international
organizations. Alexander Lukashenko noted that recent Presidential elections in
Azerbaijan were well-organized. He asked to convey his congratulations to Ilham
Aliyev on victory over the Presidential election.
Mr. Abiyev underlined that relations between the two countries are rapidly
developing. He also informed about programs for 2009, which envisage joint
arrangements of the two countries` armed forces.
