Saud al-Faisal comments on dialogue conference

New York, Nov 14, SPA -- Prince Saud al-Faisal, the Foreign Minister,
said the conference of dialogue, which ended its deliberations here
last night, had focused for the first time on ethics and religious
values as well as on common factors among the religions.

Speaking at a joint press conference here yesterday along with the
UN's Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Prince Saud pointed out that the
international support extended to the initiative of the Custodian of
the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has provided a clear evidence for
the importance of adherence to the common values and to spreading the
culture of peace and ruling out civilizations conflict.

Asked if a conference on religious tolerance would be held in the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Saud said the hearts of the Muslim
turn to the Kingdom every day when they perform their prayers.
He noted that the Kingdom is the cradle of Islam, and its leaders are
honored by the service of the two Holy Mosques. He reiterated the responsibility of the Kingdom towards the Muslim community throughout the world.

Prince Saud noted that convening a similar conference in the Kingdom
will depend on the decision which may be taken by the international
committee for religious dialogue. He added that no obstacles exist before holding a similar meeting after the approval of the committee.
The conference of dialogue among followers of religions and cultures
ended its deliberations here yesterday.

The conference's final communiqué confirmed support to the human
rights and rejected utilization of religions for justifying killing
of innocent people.

Representatives of more than 75 countries participated in the
conference.
