ENERGY SUMMIT COMMENCES IN BAKU
Baku, 14 November,(AzerTAj)The 4th Energy Summit to deal with energy security issues commenced at “Gulustan” palace in Baku on November 14.
The summit brought together Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Abdullah Gul of Turkey, Lech Ka Lech Kaczynski of Poland, Viktor Yuschenko of Ukraine, Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia, Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania, Prime Ministers Andrus Ansip of Estonia and Ferenc Gyurcsany of Hungary, as well as Vice-President of Bulgaria Angel
Marin, U.S. Energy Minister Samuel Bodman, EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and delegates from over 20 countries and diplomats.
Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev made an opening speech at the Summit.
Following speeches by heads of delegations, the meeting will continue behind closed doors.
The Summit will focus on the issues relating to the use of the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline and creation of trans-Baltic transport corridor to deliver Caspian oil and natural gas to the Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions and Central Europe.
The first Energy Summit took place in May, 2006 in the Polish city of Krakow, the
second one n November, 2007 in Lithuanian capital Vilnius and the third one in May
of this year in Kiev.
