GOVT SIGNS GAS, OIL CONTRACTS WORTH OVER RP10 TRILLION

Jakarta, Nov. 13 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has signed 33 cooperation contracts to develop oil and gas as well as coal bed methane (CBM) altogether worth US$912.1 million or more than Rp10 trillion.

The head of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulating Agency (BP Migas), R Priyono, on behalf of the government here on Thursday signed the contracts with 33 companies and consortium that had successfully bid for the projects.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro also signed the contracts as a witness.

The contracts comprise 29 on gas and oil blocks worth US$891.8 million, and four on CBM worth US$20.3 million.

Twenty of the 29 oil and gas contracts worth a total of US$57.3 million were on projects auctioned through direct offers and nine worth US$34.9 million were on blocks offered through regular tenders.

The signature bonuses for the 20 blocks auctioned through direct offers reached US$40.5 million, and investment commitments for exploration in the first three year totaled US$316.8 million.

The three-year investment commitments covered 24 exploration wells worth US$233.5 million, geological and geophysical studies worth 31.2 million, two-dimension seismic testing worth US$48.8 million, two-dimension seismic reproduction worth US$350,000, and thee-dimension seismic testing worth US$3 million.

The 20 companies winning the directly offered blocks were Serica East Seruway BV, Ranhill Energy Sdn Bhd, PT Radiant Nusa
Investama-PC (SKR) International Ltd consortium, PT Karya Inti Petroleum, Gujarat State Petroleum Corp Ltd-Essar E&P Ltd consortium, Pearl Energy Ltd-Australian Worldwide Exploration Ltd consortium, PT Sinochem Petroleum E&P, Husky Energy International Corporation, Kaizan Oil & Gas LLC-Niko Resources (Overseas II) Ltd consortium, Kaizan Oil & Gas LLC-Niko Resources (Overseas III) Ltd consortium, PT Kutai Timur Resources-Salamender Energy (SE Sangatta) Ltd consortium, Adelphi Energy Ltd, PT General Energy Indonesia di North Bone, Kaizan Oil & Gas LLC-Niko Resources (Overseas IV) Ltd consortium, Kaizan Oil & Gas LLC-Marathon Indonesia New Ventures Ltd consortium, PT Putindo Bintech, ConocoPhillips, Biak Petroleum-Niko
Resources (Overseas VI) consortium, Chevron Indonesia
Ventures Ltd, and Chevron Indonesia Ventures Ltd.

Meanwhile, nine oil and gas blocks won through regular tenders, provided signature bonuses worth US$69.5 million and first-three year investment commitments worth US$465.1 million.

The companies winning the regular tenders of the 9 oil and gas blocks were Hess (Indonesia-Semai V) Ltd., Sintezmorneftegaz, Esso
Exploration International Ltd., Pearl Oil (Tachylyte) Ltd., SPC E&P Upstream Pte Ltd., Lundin Oil &B Gas BV, Lundin Oil &B Gas BV, Murphy Overseas Ventures Inc-PTT EP Public Company
Ltd-Inpex Corporation consortium, and PT Suma Sarana.

The winners of four coal bed methane (CBM) tenders were PT
Indobararambai Gas Methan, PT Barito Basin Gas, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Metana - Kalimantan A Sangatta West CBM Inc consortium, and Kutai West CBM Inc.-Newton Energy Capital Limited consortium.
