PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO ASKS FOR SAFEGUARDING THE REAL SECTOR

Jakarta, Nov 12 (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked his ministers here on Wednesday to work hard to safeguard the real sector's growth.

He made the statement at a special cabinet meeting held ahead of his visit to the US and Latin America from November 13 to 26.
"The meeting this evening was held in connection with his departure to Peru for an APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit and the G20 summit in Washington. Because his absence would be long the President gave directives," minister/state secretary Hatta Radjasa said.
He said the essence of his directives was that the real sector's growth had to be safeguarded so that the national economic growth would not lose its momentum.
He said the President in one of his directives to the ministers also called for correct and quick implementation of the national budget.
"The national state budget has to be distributed correctly and smoothly as it would help the real sector much," he said.
The President also asked his ministers to immediately carry out infrastructural projects whose financing had been ready or was still being processed.
"These projects are big and absorbing large employment. This may become a stimulus for the real sector that indeed needs it," he said.
President Yudhoyono also asked his ministers to implement the ten-point policy that had been issued by the government to anticipate the impact of the current global financial crisis.
"The ten-point policy must be put in actions to help the real sector prevent hindrances," Hatta said.
President Yudhoyono is scheduled to attend a G20 summit in Washington on November 14-15. After that he would make a state visit to Mexico, Brazil and Peru.
On November 20-23 he is scheduled to attend the 16th APEC summit in Lima, Peru, before leaving home on November 26.
Hatta said President Yudhoyono had also given directives to vice president Jusuf Kalla with regard to domestic administration.
"What needs to be informed will be communicated with the President. He can communicate with the vice president everywhere he is in the world. Certainly the mechanism is working anytime," he said.
