RI, JAPAN ARTISTS TO HOLD JOINT EXHIBITION IN BALI

Denpasar, Nov 12 (ANTARA) - As many as 185 Japanese and Indonesian artists are to hold a joint exhibition in Tonyraka Art Gallery located in the artist village of Ubud, Bali, November 14 to 17, 2008.
Dubbed "Nippon Artfest", the event was being organized to mark 50 years of Indonesia-Japan diplomatic relations. In fact, the event would be the biggest Japanese art exhibition ever held in Bali.
"The event will be participated in by 150 Japanese artists and 35 artists from Indonesia," the owner of Tonyraka Art Gallery as well as the organizer of the event, AA Tony Hartawan, said here Wednesday.
Accompanied by the curator of the exhibition, Arif Bagus Prasetyo, Tony said the exhibition would show 270 art works of which 100 were made of ceramics.
Tony also explained that the event would be supported by hundreds of artists in many genres such as traditional water painting, Japanese-style painting, Western-style painting, calligraphy, graphics, sculpturing, ceramic, flower decoration, photography, and mixed-media arts.
Among the hundreds of exhibitors would be Ritsuko Kurakawa and Seikoh Taira from Japan, Mangu Putra, FX Harsono, and Tisna Sanjaya from Indonesia.
