Government directs counting floods-damaged buildings
SANA'A, Nov. 11 (Saba)-The government directed in its cabinet's
meeting held on Tuesday the field committee in charge of housing
floods-affected people in eastern areas to speed up completing
counting the damaged buildings.
The cabinet directed the committee also to coordinate with local
councils in Hadramout and Mahra governorates for setting up
mechanisms for compensating owners of destroyed houses as soon as
possible and naming alternative lands, away of floods runways, for
reconstruction process.
Chaired by Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, the meeting reviewed the
initial report of the chairman of the Supreme Emergency Committee
over the size of damages befell these houses and on measures taken
for housing the displaced people.
The cabinet then discussed memorandum presented by Minister of Legal
Affairs over establishing fund for catastrophes for quick dealing
with affects of catastrophes in different conditions.
The cabinet referred the memo to working team headed by deputy
prime minister for economic affairs for studying and preparing a
draft law required for establishing the fund, taking into
consideration making use of other experiences in this field.
