MEUTIA HATTA VISITS FEMALE WORKERS TRAINING CENTER
Jakarta, Nov 11 (ANTARA) - State Minister for Women Empowerment Meutia Hatta visited a training center of prospective female workers in Utan Kayu, East Jakarta, Tuesday.
"What is a suitable food for the elderly?" the minister asked Ermawati (27) of Jombang, East Java, who quickly said porridge.
The short dialogue continued with another question of what should be done if an elderly asked for solid food. Ermawati, a mother of one, could not give an answer.
"First you have to ask her/his family whether she/he could have solid food," the minister said.
Ermawati and the other female workers were following a training in English, Mandarin and household skills especially baby sitting and caring for the elderly at Balanta Budi Prima Ltd. They would be sent to Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Hong Kong.
