GOVT TO RESTRICT GASOLINE CONSUMPTION IN 2009
Jakarta, Nov 11 (ANTARA) - The government is planning to restrict the number of vehicles using subsidized gasoline and diesel oil starting next year, an Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry official said.
Director General of Oil and Gas Evita Legowo said on Tuesday the ministry was still discussing options with relevant agencies to restrict subsidized gasoline and diesel oil consumption.
"The consumption needs to be restricted soon because it has already outstripped its quota," she said.
One of the possible options was banning private cars produced after 2000 with a cylinder capacity of more than 2,000 cc from using subsidized gasoline and diesel oil, she said.
