YAHOO! COOPERATES WITH FIVE INDONESIAN NEWS WEBSITE OPERATORS

Jakarta, Nov 11 (ANTARA) - Yahoo! is cooperating with five Indonesian operators of news websites to spread news from the country namely LKBN ANTARA, Detik.com, Kompas.com. SCTV Liputan 6 and Kapanlagi.com.
"The cooperation is our strategy to make Yahoo! an important starting point for Indonesian consumers," Senior Director Business Development Yahoo! Southeast Asia Pontus Sonnerstendt said in a press conference here on Tuesday.
He said he would continue expanding the cooperation with local operators, publishers and advertising agencies in terms of content with a view to developing online industry in the country.
He said he was convinced Yahoo!'s unique users would continue to grow and cooperation with local website operators could create ties with Yahoo!'s users.
Yahoo!'s key online products to be offered are Yahoo! Indonesia Front Page, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Messenger and Yahoo! Mobile which are also available in the Indonesian language version.
Sonnerstendt said the number of internet users in the developing countries including Indonesia would keep increasing without mentioning the number of Indonesian internet users that logged in Yahoo!.
He claimed global Yahoo! consumers reached more than 550 millions including 55 millions in Southeast Asia.
To increase the number of internet users and internet cafe networks in Indonesia Yahoo! plans to launch a Yahoo! Advantage Warnet program in cooperation with PT Ewayssindo Makmur and the Association of Warnet Users.
Sonnerstendt said warnets (internet kiosks) that took part in the program would get a Yahoo! Advantage program that could be used free of charge which is Yahoo! online global market promotion, Yahoo! name and software branding for warnets.
Yahoo! will help install the "widget" program in the warnets to make users easy to click Yahoo!.
Sonnerstendt said he made the cooperation with Indonesia following its success in the Philippines and Vietnam.
