Qadhafi receives Abdullah bin Zayed
Tripoli, Nov 11, 2008 (WAM) - Colonel Muammar Al Qadhafi, Leader of the Libyan Revolution, received yesterday evening H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE's Foreign Minister who arrived earlier in Tripoli.
Sheikh Abdullah conveyed to Colonel Al Qadhafi an invitation extended by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit the UAE. Al Qadhafi accepted the invitation for the visit, to be made in the nearest possible time.
Sheikh Abdullah also conveyed greetings of Sheikh Khalifa, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces. He said that UAE's relations with Libya were "deep rooted."
Upon his arrival in the Libyan capital, Sheikh Abdullah was received at the airport by Abdul-Rahman Muhammad Shalgam, Secretary of the General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison '&' International Cooperation, Abdullah Sulaiman Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to Libya, and the embassy staff.
Shalgam lauded the progressive relations between the UAE and Libya and the fraternal ties between the Leader of Libyan Revolution Colonel Muammar Al-Qadhafi and President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He referred to the countries' identical views on Arab and Islamic issues and coordinated stands in international arenas, and to the UAE's investments in all economic sectors in Libya.
Shalgam also praised the great role played by the UAE in restoring Libya's relations with the United States. He offered thanks to the UAE's leadership.
