Khalifa Foundation, Bill '&' Melinda Gates Foundation tie up to execute health projects

Abu Dhabi, Nov 11, 2008 (WAM) - The Khalifa bin Zayed Charitable Foundation has tied up with the Bill '&' Melinda Gates Foundation to execute a number of health projects, to train the former's staff to enable them provide health care services and to execute some Bill '&' Melinda Gates Foundation projects in the Middle East, Pakistan and Central Asian countries.

During a meeting held in Abu Dhabi yesterday, the two sides discussed a number of issues and proposals aimed at improving the services being rendered to needy societies. The two sides also agreed to continue to hold bilateral meetings and share views and information on the best way to improve public health.

In a statement to WAM, the Executive Director of the Khalifa bin Zayed Charitable Foundation, Mohammed Haji Al-Khoory, said the meeting between the two foundations was the fruit of direct follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Presidential Affairs and Board Chairman of the Khalifa bin Zayed Charitable Foundation, adding that Sheikh Mansour always stresses the need to build strategic partnership with international organisations and establishments with great experience in humanitarian and charity works.

He said the two sides discussed a number of issues, including jointly executing a number of health projects and training Khalifa bin Zayed Charitable Foundation staff to enable them provide health care services and to execute some Bill '&' Melinda Gates Foundation projects in the Middle East, Pakistan and Central Asian countries, adding that the two sides also agreed to jointly draw up strategic partnership plan in the years ahead.
