PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES WORLD-FAMOUS AZERBAIJANI SCIENTIST LUTFIZADE

Baku, 10 November,(AzerTAj)IOn November 10, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev received world-famous Azerbaijani scientist Lutfizade who is in Baku to attend the 14th International Exhibition and Conference “Telecommunication and Information Technologies” BakuTel-2008.

The scientist expressed pleasure at visiting Baku and meeting President Ilham Aliyev.
He said much had changed in Baku since his last one-day visit here in 1965. He said
along with large-scale construction activities in the capital, he also eye-witnessed
signs of considerable scientific and cultural progress. Mr. Lutfizade pointed out
all these achievements are the result of the big attention President Ilham Aliyev
pays to development of science and culture in the country.
The Head of State said relying on its huge potential Azerbaijan has set itself a
task to develop various fields of science, education and culture and to apply high
technologies.
President Ilham Aliyev said today developing the non-oil sector is one of the key
priorities for the country.
Stressing the importance of the BakuTel-2008 exhibition and conference, the
President said that Azerbaijan is closely cooperating with the world`s leading ICT
companies, and that the country has good opportunities to become the regional center
for information and communications technologies.
