Primary school kids find gold at ASEAN meet
Hanoi (VNA) - A delegation of Vietnamese students has won eight medals so far at the ASEAN Primary School Sports Olympiad (APSSO) in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Vietnam's table tennis team grabbed one gold, two silver and two bronze
medals. The chess team pocketed one gold and one silver.
A silver medal was also won in athletics for the triple jump.
The Hai Duong primary school team, who were 2008 National Primary School
Football tournament champions, fell just short of medal contention in fourth
place after a 3-0 loss to Indonesia B.
Malaysia took the football gold in a penalty shoot-out against Indonesia A
in the final.
Vietnam's student athletes will participate in cultural exchange
activities and give music and art performances while in Jakarta, on top of
competing in five sporting events: football, table tennis, badminton, chess
and athletics.
The second APSSO was designed to improve and develop sports among ASEAN
elementary school students.-Enditem
