JAPANESE PREMIER SENDS PERSONAL LETTER TO PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO
Jakarta, Nov 10 (ANTARA) - Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso has sent a personal letter to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said.
Speaking to the press here on Monday, Djalal said the letter was delivered by Japan's former finance minister Toyoo Gyohten at the presidential office on Monday.
When delivering the letter, Gyohten was accompanied by former foreign minister Yoshji Nogamu, a director at the Japanese finance ministry, Shigeru Ariizumi, a director at the Japanese foreign ministry, Tokuruo Furuya and Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kojiro Shiojiri.
Djalal said the Japanese prime minister's letter in essence explained Japan's view on the global financial crisis.
"The Japanese prime minister sent the personal letter in preparations for the G-20 summit to be held in Washington DC, the United States on November 14, 2008," the presidential spokesman said.
He said the Japanese prime minister had sent the letter in an effort have some coordination among Asian countries in the face of the summit of the group of 20 countries (G-20).
"But there no aspect of the letter can be commented on publicly because it is a personal letter for President Yudhoyono," he said.
Yudhoyono and other heads of state/government of G-20 member nations are scheduled to attend the summit on November 14-15, 2008.
To be held at US President George W Bush's proposal, the G-20 summit, will discuss solutions to the global financial crisis and steps to reform the world's financial system.
