Environment Ministry Holds Workshop on Additional Indicators for MDGs

Doha, July 22 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment organized today a training workshop on additional indicators for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), in collaboration with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA), represented in the unity of additional indicators. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, Director of Water Department at the Ministry of Environment Youssuf Ibrahim Al Hamar said that Qatar has achieved the Millennium Development Goals in relation to water, adding that the workshop is held as part of the initiative of the additional indicators for the Millennium Development Goals and based on the recent decisions of the Arab Ministerial Council in this connection. During the workshop the participants were briefed on how to calculate additional indicators related to water and sanitation in the Arab region to demonstrate the progress made on the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
