Arab Contractors Company gives $ 20.000 in aid for rain-affected people

SANA'A, Nov. 09 (Saba) - The Arab Contractors Company has announced it will provide $ 20.000 for the people affected by heavy rains that lashed the eastern provinces of Hadramout and Maharah.

A statement issued by the Arab Bank in Sana'a noted that the sum was exported into
the account allocated for donations for the affected areas at the Yemen Central
Bank.

In the recent weeks, heavy rains lashed several parts of the republic causing human
and material losses. In the eastern provinces almost 90 people were killed and 31
were missing. More than 2000 houses were destroyed. The heavy rains also swept many
planted lands and many livestock died.

Other people were killed in some of the southern provinces either due to heavy rains
or by thunderbolts. In the western province of Hudaidah many houses were ruined in
the last few days.

The government set up emergency committees to deal with the catastrophe and spared
heavy efforts to reach-out the affected people and provide them with necessary aid
materials.

Arab and foreign countries have supported Yemen to deal with the calamity through
providing sums or aid materials.

The government is now planning a rebuilding scheme and has asked these countries to
provide more support to rebuild the affected areas.
