HIPMI PERSUADES INVESTORS TO BUILD EASTERN INDONESIA
Ternate, N Maluku, Nov 9 (ANTARA) - The Association of Indonesian Young Businessmen (HIPMI) was expected to serve as facilitator of investors in the development of the eastern Indonesian provinces.
"We call on the other HIPMI members to serve as strategic partners of foreign or Jakarta investors to invest in eastern Indonesia," HIPMI Chairman Erwin Aksa said here on Sunday.
Aksa considers eastern Indonesia as virtually unexploited, while it is so rich in natural resources needed by investors.
"HIPMI is lacking in capital, so we encourage our fellow HIPMI members to facilitate potential investors to come here and work as partners with local counterparts," he said.
Most HIMPI members, Aksa said, focus on trade and construction sectors, and still limited in investment capacity.
"Moreover, their track record is also limited, so they need a strategic partnership," said Aksa.
Meanwhile, North Maluku Deputy Governor Abdul Gani Kusuma said the infrastructure sector is still imposing a significant obstacle in North Maluku.
"Therefore, I hope the young businesspeople to encourage investment in North Maluku. North Maluku has many potentials in agribusiness and infrastructure for improvement and development," Kusuma said.
The high inflation rate in North Maluku, he added, is because of their bad infrastructure.
"Delivery services still depend on air and sea transportation. Infrastructure sector is our top priority this moment, and North Maluku is trying to attract investorss to improve and develop the region's economy life," said Kusuma.
