AMROZI ET AL'S EXECUTION SHOWS GOVT CANNOT BE DICTATED

Bandung, Nov 9 (ANTARA) - The execution of Bali bombers Amrozi, Ali Gufron and Imam Samudra, was proof the government cannot be dictated by others, a law expert said.
"While at first there was a bit of doubt due to repeatedly postponed execution, the execution very early on Sunday shows Indonesia is not being dictated by outsiders," I Gede Pantja Astawa of the Padjajaran University said on Sunday, while adding that the execution was a consistency of the law in Indonesia.
"As soon as the judicial review proposed by the three codemned men's lawyer was rejected, actually the attorney general immediately order execution," Astawa said.
Although the law has all the procedures, he said, the execution was not as simple as it seems.
The execution of the three bombers has drawn public attention apparently because their victims include people from other countries as well.
With the execution, Astawa said, the core problem has not been solved.
"However, the government had shown that legal certainty prevails in this county," he said.
"Psychologically, people has been assured that the law is carried out," Astawa said.
