AUSTRALIAN TOURISTS TO FORGET AMROZI`S EXECUTION SOON

Canberra, Nov 9 (ANTARA) - Members of the international community, including the Australian public, will soon forget the executions of Amrozi, Ali Ghufron and Imam Samudra so that Bali is expected to be busily visited by holiday makers during this year's X'mas and 2009 new year, Bali's tourism observer I Nyoman Darma Putra said.

"Thanks God, the executions have been done eight weeks before the peak of the year-end holidays. It seems that Bali will be busily visited by tourists because in a few days to come the public will soon forget the issue on Amrozi et al's executions," Putra said.

Putra, who is the author of "Tourism, Development and Terrorism in Bali" said in a few days to come Indonesia, particularly Bali, would be safe from terrorist attack.

This safe condition would have positive impact on the country's tourism, he said.

"If nothing will happen in the coming few days, Australian tourists who happen to be worried about the government's travel warning, are expected to arrange a schedule for their holidays in Bali," he said.

After all, Garuda Indonesia, JetStar and Virgin Blue airlines have opened Australia-Bali direct flight services.

"These airlines have aggressively promoting their flight services to Bali through various promotional media such as newspapers, TVs and the internet," he said that the promotion campaign will attract Australian to make a holiday trip to Bali.

He said that threats of attacks by supporters of the convicts who harbor hatred of course existed but the possibility of such an attack was small because if the terrorists had the ability to attack they had done it even far before the execution was carried out.

After all, security officers have done a wonderful job in maintaining security, he added.

Indonesia has set a target of 380 thousand tourist arrivals from Australia in 2008, which increased from 314 thousands in 2007.
