POLICE TIGHTEN CONTROL ON MOVEMENTS OF SHIPS IN BALI

Denpasar, Indonesia, Nov 9 (ANTARA) - Bali Regional Police Chief Insp. Gen. T Ashikin Husein said on Sunday he had ordered his rank and file to tighten control over the in- and out-coming ships in the tourist resort island of Bali following the execution of Bali bombers Amrozi et al at the wee hours on Sunday.

"I have ordered police personnel to increase supervision and tightly control the flow of ships and cargoes in the Bali waters," the regional police chief said.

He said that the tight control had to be carried out in anticipation of undesired happenings after the execution of three death-row convicts who played roles in the Bali bombing in 2002 which killed 202.

"With the execution of the convicts, Bali should not remain inattentive. After all, Bali has suffered major bombing twice," the Bali regional police said.

In the meantime, Udayana Military Commander Maj. Gen. Hotmangaradja Panjaitan said the military in cooperation with police would continue to tighten security in Bali after the execution of Amrozi, Ali Gufron and Imam Samudra, death-row convicts in Bali bombing in 2002.

Bali bombers, Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra, who had been death-row convicts since 2003, were executed by a firing squad in Cilacap district, Central Java, at the wee hours on Sunday.

Attorney General's Office (AGO) Spokesman Jasman Pandjaitan said earlier that the execution of three Bali bombers was carried out at 0.15 a.m. Sunday (Nov.9).

"At 0.15 (local time) Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra were executed by a firing squad," Jasman said at a press conference in Jakarta early on Sunday, adding that autopsy had been carried out to confirm their death.

Their bodies were sent to their respective villages on Sunday, namely Amrozi and Mukhlas to Lamongan district, East Java province, while Imam Samudra to Serang, Banten province.
