NUMBER OF INDONESIANS VISITING SINGAPORE THROUGH BATAM INCREASING
Batam, Indonesia, Nov 9 (ANTARA) - The number of Indonesian visiting Singapore through Batam has been increasing in the last three months, an immigration official said.
Data at Batam immigration office showed on Sunday that Indonesian visitors to Singapore through the Batam Center port had been increasing since August this year.
The Batam Center port has been providing services for Indonesians willing to leave for Singapore and Malaysia.
In August, the port service center recorded 44,360 Indonesians crossing to Singapore through the port. The number rose to 44,410 in September and drastically jumped up to 47,995 in October.
Head of the Batam immigration office for exit affairs, Zardodjo said that most of Indonesians passing through the Batam port were visitors to Singapore.
"About 70 percent departed to Singapore," he said.
