BODY OF IMAM SAMUDRA ARRIVES IN BANTEN

Serang, Indonesia, Nov 9 (ANTARA) - The body of Imam Samudra, one of the three death-row convicts in the Bali bombing case who were executed early on Sunday in Cilacap district, Central Java, arrived in Serang at 8.25 am and was taken to al Manar mosque near his mother's residence in Lopang Gede hamlet, Lopang village, for a prayer at 9.30 am.

Samudra's body was flown in by a helicopter from Cilacap district in Central Java. The helicopter landed in Banten's Police Headquarters' helipad.

His body was directly picked up and taken to his wife's house in Pasir Indah, Serang, capital of Banten province.

Without a welcoming ceremony, the body was then taken to his mother's residence with an ambulance in Lopang Gede village.

Imam Samudra has stated his will that he should not be welcome with tears. Therefore, no tears of his mother Embay Badriyah and his wife Zakiah Drajat welcome the arrival of his body.

He would be buried near his father's tomb at Lopang Gede graveyard.

Imam Samudra, Amrozi and Mukhlas alis Ali Gufron were executed at 0.15 am by a firing squad at 0.15 am early Sunday by a firing squad.

In the meantime the bodies of Amrozi and Ali Gufron arrived in their mother's residence in Tenggulun village, Lamongan, East Java at 9.30 am.

Two helicopters carrying the bombers' bodies landed in a square of Bulubangsari village, Laren sub-district, Lamongan district. They were then picked up with ambulance cars which took them to the mourning house in Tenggulun village, Solokuro subdistrict.

Attorney General's Office (AGO)Spokesman Jasman Pandjaitan said earlier that the execution of three Bali bombers was carried out at 0.15 a.m. Sunday (Nov.9).

Amrozi, Mukhlas and Iman Samudra are on death row for their roles in the bombings in Bali in October 2002 that left more than 200 people dead including many Australian tourists.
